Abstract: The purpose of the study is to diagnose the relation between education of women owners and
factors affecting their decision to set up a business. Furthermore, the study researches the
influence of education and participation in training courses on the performance of the firms. The
research concerned the operation of companies from 2012 to 2017 in Nairobi City County and
158 women- owned enterprises were polled. The empirical material was processed by means of
descriptive statistics and Spearman’s method of rank correlation coefficient .The study
confirmed the hypothesis that education and professional experience of women were decisive in
prioritizing by them the external and internal factors which influenced the decision of setting up
a firm. The study showed that a significant factor influencing firm growth and firm performance
was training and development courses. |
