Abstract: This study evaluates the performance of selected commercial banks in Bangladesh, focusing on
key indicators such as profitability, liquidity, asset quality, and capital adequacy from 2015 to
2020. By employing financial ratio analysis and comparative evaluation, the study highlights the
strengths and weaknesses of banks such as Dutch Bangla Bank, BRAC Bank, AB Bank, and others.
The findings reveal significant disparities in performance, with some banks demonstrating robust
profitability and growth, while others struggle with high non-performing loans and operational
inefficiencies. The impact of external factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic, on the banking
sector's profitability and resilience is also discussed. Recommendations emphasize the importance
of risk management, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation to enhance competitiveness
and sustainability. This study provides valuable insights for policymakers, financial institutions,
and stakeholders in understanding and improving the dynamics of Bangladesh's banking sector. |
